Before coming to our clinic for adult vaccinations, please call one of our clinic locations to ensure that your specific vaccination is available. If the vaccination is not available, we will be able to refer you to places that do offer your specific vaccine(s).

Q: What time should I arrive?
New hires will be instructed in their offer letter to arrive at 8:00 a.m. on their first day of employment.
Q: Where do I park?

New hires should park in the parking lot at main entrance.  On your first day you will be issued an identification badge which will activate the building doors.

Q: Where do I report?
New hires will enter the main entrance and check in with the receptionist.  The employee will be directed to Human Resources for their employee orientation.
Q: How long does the new employee orientation process take?
The orientation process can last up to approximately three hours depending on the number of questions asked.
Q: Who do I contact if I have a problem and will be late my first day?
You may call the Human Resources Department at (405) 425-4466 or contact your supervisor.
Q: What do I do if there is inclement weather on my first day?
You may call (405) 419-4115 and listen to a recording to receive instructions if OCCHD will open late or be closed due to weather conditions.
Q: Where can I eat lunch? How much time will I have? Can I go off property?
OCCHD has break rooms available for you to enjoy your 30-minute lunch.  The break rooms may have vending machines, microwaves, and refrigerators available for your use.  You may leave the property for your 30 minute lunch.
Q: What are the hours of the OKC-County Health Department or individual clinics?
Visit our website at www.occhd.org and click on Locations.  There you can select to find out about our various locations and hours of operation.

 

Q: What is the dress code policy?
Each person is expected to dress appropriately for the job. Supervisors will offer guidance on proper attire. Supervisors may also establish special requirements for reasons of safety or image. You will be notified of special requirements.
Q: What is the cell phone use policy?
You will need to ask your immediate supervisor about personal cellular phone use in your department.  OCCHD does prohibit the use of cell phones or the use of electronic wireless communication devices used to write, send, or read a text-based communication while driving a motor vehicle on OCCHD business.
Q: Are you a tobacco free property?
In recognition of the increased health hazards of passive smoke on the non-smoker, smoking is prohibited throughout all indoor and outdoor areas or premises under the control of Oklahoma City-County Health Department facilities or vehicles.  Also, because of health and aesthetic reasons, use of non-smoking tobacco products is prohibited.  Further, smoking or any use of tobacco is prohibited from use in OCCHD vehicles in use for Health Department business anywhere.  Smoking is also prohibited while conducting official OCCHD business anywhere.
Q: Do you have variable work schedules?

Yes, depending on department needs and supervisor approval, there are primarily three types of schedules: five days at eight hours per day, four days at ten hours per day, four days at nine hours per day, and one day at four hours.

Q: How often will I be paid?

Employees are paid twice a month – on the 14th and 29th of each month.  You are paid one pay period behind.  For example, you start work on the second of the month.  Your first pay check will be received on the 29th.

Q: When do my benefits begin?
Benefits begin on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.
Q: What are my opportunities for advancement?
Open positions are posted in various locations for internal candidates.  Check the bulletin boards or on SharePoint for any job openings.

 

Q: Should I bring any particular equipment for my position such as a stethoscope if I am a nurse?
Your supervisor will advise you if and when you need to provide personal equipment for use.
Q: If my family has an emergency, how do they contact me?
You will need to provide your family with your supervisor’s name and phone number.
Q: Is there a place to put my personal possessions such as purse, coat, etc.?
You will need to check with your supervisor.  OCCHD is not responsible for your personal possessions.
